1. Policy Purpose and Scope

Aligned with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) Financial Education Commitment Charter and accredited by the Financial Planning Institute of Southern Africa (FPI), this policy ensures all training and CPD hours issued are practical, verifiable, and compliant with regulatory mandates under the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services (FAIS) Act 37 of 2002.
2. Legal & Regulatory Disclaimer
IMPORTANT NOTICE: All learning materials, assessment activities, and CPD hours provided by Financial Mind (PTY) LTD are strictly for educational, professional training, and competence development purposes.
No Financial Advice: Content delivered across our platforms or in assessments does not constitute legal, tax, investment, or financial advice as set out by the FSCA under the FAIS Act.
Professional Discretion: FSPs, key individuals, and representatives must exercise independent professional judgment when advising clients and cannot rely on course materials as direct financial recommendations.
3. CPD Accreditation Framework
Financial Mind is an authorized CPD provider registered with the FPI. CPD activities offered cover four key competency categories:
-
Regulatory Compliance & Ethics: Focuses on legislation, industry codes, anti-money laundering, and ethical decision-making.
-
Technical Knowledge: Covers technical financial product structures, asset management, insurance mechanisms, and advisory frameworks.
-
Business Skills: Includes practice management, client communication, business strategy, and operational efficiency for FSPs.
-
Crypto Assets & Emerging Technologies: Addresses regulatory developments surrounding distributed ledger technology, digital assets, cyber risks, and novel financial instruments.
Each course is assigned a specific number of CPD hours/credits based on learning duration, complexity, and formal SME review in accordance with FPI quality standards.
4. Course Completion & Award Criteria
To successfully complete a course and receive an accredited CPD certificate or Acknowledgement of Attendance, learners must satisfy the following parameters monitored via our 3rd-Party Learning Management System (MoodleCloud):
-
Active Engagement: Completion of 100% of required learning modules, including reading materials, embedded video lectures, and interactive components.
-
Time-Tracking Verification: Minimum time thresholds built into MoodleCloud must be met to ensure active participation across the learning material.
-
Assessment Pass Mark: A minimum score of 70% (unless specified higher for specialized technical or regulatory courses) must be achieved on end-of-module or final course assessments.
-
Permitted Attempts: Learners are granted up to 3 (three) attempts to pass an assessment. If a learner fails all 3 attempts, a mandatory cooling-off period and review of learning materials are required before re-assessment can be unblocked by an administrator.
5. Identity Verification and Academic Integrity
-
Learner Authentication: Prior to the issuance of CPD certificates, learners must ensure their profile contains their full legal name, South African ID or passport number, and relevant professional body membership number (e.g., FPI membership number).
-
Prohibition of Plagiarism & Misrepresentation: Assessments must be completed solely by the registered learner. Misrepresentation, proxy test-taking, sharing assessment answers, or unauthorized collaboration will result in:
-
Immediate revocation of course completion status.
-
Nullification of issued CPD points.
-
Formal notification to the learner’s employer or professional body (where applicable).
-
6. CPD Uploads and Reporting
-
Reporting Timelines: Financial Mind submits completed CPD activity logs and verified learner lists to the FPI and relevant professional bodies on a structured schedule.
-
Learner Responsibility: Learners are responsible for verifying that their professional body numbers (e.g., FPI numbers) are correctly entered on MoodleCloud. Financial Mind is not responsible for rejected CPD credits resulting from incorrect user input.
-
Certificates of Completion: Digital certificates featuring unique verification hashes, FPI accreditation numbers, category breakdowns, and CPD hours awarded are generated automatically upon successful course completion.
7. Record Keeping & Audit Trail
In compliance with POPIA, FAIS, and FPI audit requirements:
-
Retention Period: Financial Mind maintains all learner assessment records, attendance logs, MoodleCloud activity metadata, and issued certificates for a minimum of 5 (five) years.
-
Audit Access: Records are made available to accredited professional bodies (e.g., FPI) and the FSCA upon formal request for auditing and verification purposes.
